Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

I’m not a Harry Potter fan…I’ve never read a Harry Potter book nor have I seen the movies…but last night I happened to be out late with some friends and family AND we spotted some of the folks wandering around and headed to the Borders parking lot around 10pm and a little after midnight to check out the happenings at the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows release.

I can’t say that I “get it” (like are these folks actually going to stay up all night reading this thing?), but man do I wish that I had my good camera, my camcorder and my podcast gear with me. I did happen to have my older digital camera and recorded some of the crowd as we drove by…

Anyway, if someone would like to enlighten me and/or the Trolley Dodgers Podcast, feel free to do so. And go ahead and spoil it for us and/or make up your own ending. You can leave us a voice mail at 317-565-4250.

To understand why people would stand outside until after midnight for a book, can only be explained by the book itself. The series is wonderfully addicting. You have to read it to understand. I had only started reading the books two months ago, yet I was one of those people that stood in line at midnight for the final book of a series about a boy who did not choose his own destiny, but it chose him. I would’ve stayed up all night reading it if I didn’t have a child to care for the following day. But I’ll sum it up this way…I read all 752 pages in 1 1/2 days.
Read the books, then pass judgement.
